Subscriber to "The Bird Hunting Report",
Mike Telesmanic found someone he describes simply as the "best
outfitter available."
He says that Mark
Meissenburg of Panhandle's Best, Inc. of Amarillo, Texas, "thinks of
everything".
"I have hesitated in the past to say
anything about this area, but this is our third year, and it just
gets better."
Telesmanic hunted the area from Feb.
2-4, 2007. His quarry was sandhill cranes, which he rates as
"Abundant." So, too, is the rating he gives the geese, both Canadas
and snows. He hunted cranes from "stand-up blinds" and the geese
from layouts.
Telesmanic rates the equipment
condition and dog work as "Excellent." Since he stayed at the Best
Western Amarillo, he did not rate the accommodations or cuisine. He
gives his personal guide a grade of "Excellent" in all categories,
adding an "Exceptional" to his knowledge of the hunt area.
"Mike Sutherland was our goose guide - Great", says Telesmanic. 'We
were in the best spots daily! They scout areas daily.
"The birds acted as if they never had been shot at. Very little
pressure in areas they hunt."
He summarizes his
experience this way: "This is a special hunt with a special
outfitter. Mark does not leave anything to chance."
"Hunting over stuffers in the right area makes for a slam dunk."
For a cost of $975, Telesmanic enjoyed two goose hunts and three
crane hunts.
